Truffle has been wanting to get into the shower for a while,

infact anywhere we go she wants to

be with us.

She was a little surprised to say the least

when she discovered the water

falling on her.

Recovering after cleaning herself up.

She certainly makes the house more interesting

A New Look for The Boutique Markets

My decorating fund has dried up over Christmas so

it is time to go back to work.

Kids are back at School this week (quiet yeah!)

I have been a stall holder at the Boutique Markets in Hamilton

Brisbane since they began a couple of years ago.

A beautiful spot on the river but it's time for a change.

This year will find The Boutique Markets at

King George Square in Brisbane.

Less markets, only four a year but bigger and better

So put the first date on your calender and come

by and say hello.

February 26th 9am - 1pm

Ruby's Party

Just popping in to share a few pics from Ruby's Party.

Unfortunately the weather was bad, we had the party inside

which was fine but the pics are a bit dark

On my wish list this year is a new camera.

Loot bags with a cute Eiffel tower key ring

Linen, pink and white with a hint of black

I managed to not burn the meringues

Little Eiffel Tower place card holders and found

a free down loadable card to print on

Cake Pops, These are fun and cute but not sure they

are to every ones taste buds. Very sweet.

I did some chocolate ones and some cake with white

chocolate cheesecake mix instead of icing.

They were nice.

We went the day before to the Rocklea Flower

Market for flowers, not as cheap as I thought.

Just and cheap at the little flower market in

Stafford.

Miss Ruby received a lovely gold Eiffel Tower

necklace as well as some other lovely gifts.

A lovely afternoon in all, with champers and

nibbles for Mum's in the kitchen.

And last but not least.

The Coco Chanel hand bag cake

I did this at 11 pm the night before

so a little rough around the edges.

Just used supermarket roll out icing.

I found some that was about 3 times the price.

May give you a better finish but was happy with this.

We had a lot of fun, but time to get ready to head

back to school next week.

A big year for us.

Party Decorating Obsession

I am planning the High Tea for Ruby's Birthday Party

and have become a little obsessed with researching for it.

As it is possibly the last time she will let me go a little

over the top for a party I am going to have some fun with it.

There are so many amazing websites and business that are

just amazing with all the supplies and ideas, there really is no

excuse to be boring.

I am going to have a go at these little cake pops.

Very effective and I don't think they will be very hard to do.

and could easily be used at any party

You could go seriously nuts if you had no budget.

Going to investigate the flower markets at Rocklea on

Monday.

A Few House Pics

We are still trying to get the house in order and

with the kids home on school holidays it is hard to keep

things clean and organized long enough to photograph anything.

Don't look too closely the front hand rails still need top coating

My mushroom and berry wreath for Christmas looks lovely

on the white door.

We planted out the section in front of the house

with a murraya hedge to cover the fence, lirriope, lavender,

agapanthas and a magnolia tree, which hopefully won't take

too long to get some height.

The front path is going to be tiled in the same

honed sandstone that we are using around the pool.

As you can imagine I was very excited to see this arrive

just before Christmas

On the wish list for this year is a Hampton's

Library to put across the back wall.

Just deciding on white or burnt oak to match the table top??

And as you can see Miss Truffle has settled in to the

A Pool for the New Year

We are taking the New Year in full swing and

starting our pool in a couple of weeks.

I spent yesterday painting the kids bathroom and toilet

and started doing doors and trim.

Mr R&B spent the day painting the outside hand rails.

We are determined to finish off the painting before our first

anniversary of being in the house.

We had a fleeting visit to Sydney over Christmas to visit

family, there is never enough time to see every one and do everything.

I did get a chance to pop into the beautiful Alfresco Emporium on the Northern

Beaches, but came away empty handed sadly as everything

I would have liked was too big for my suitcase.

Here are some beautiful inspirational pool images I found.

We have a plan of what we are going to do

and are very excited to be starting.

Of course ours will be a little less grand but

we will have a covered pergola at one end

We are using honed Himalayan Sandstone coping and pavers

and glass mosaic water line tile in a pearly aqua finish

with a light pebble.

Hopefully it will have a soft appearance and blend

into the landscape nicely.

Santa came early to Ruby & Belle

It has been a busy and hectic year for Ruby & Belle.

With house building and moving on top of

working and painting, which there is still more to do.

But business in wrapping up for the year and

I am looking forward to some R & R with the family.

Especially this little one.

Introducing "Truffle" the Chocolate Ragdoll.

Isn't she just the sweetest little thing.

She has taken up residency on Mr R&B's side of the bed while he

has been away on business. Will be funny to see how

she reacts when he gets back.

A little house update

Things have been slow finishing off the house.

So much painting to do still.

My table is here and hoping to have the new dining chairs by next

week. So will post a pic when they arrive.

I have been selling off our old furniture on eBay

with the intention of replacing it bit by bit with

new pieces.

I finally pulled out my summer linen, although the nights are still

a bit chilly.

I had big plans for making lots of cushions but due to

lack of time I had to

resort to Bed Bath & Table for some lovely white

European shams and pillow cases.

BB&T lamps too.

I did though make the linen flower cushion at the front.

Bianca Lorenne inspired.

We picked up the linen quilt in Sydney last Christmas

half price.

The sitting nook with one of our old lounges.

Deciding if I should recover it in linen and give it a skirt

or buy a slip covered ikea lounge ????

I don't really love this lounge but the shape

goes with the rest of the furniture

Tres Chic - Lovely Shop

I was driving down to the Gold Coast early yesterday for

the Butterfly Tree Markets

when I realised the time on the car clock was a little

earlier than the time on my iPhone.

I was trying to work out how I got down there so fast when

my alarm had gone off at 5.15am, had a nice long shower,

stopped for coffee and banana bread on the way

and still managed to get down to South Port by 6.30am

when it is a 1 1/2 hour drive from my place.

My phone had switched to daylight saving time, and happy

to say I wasn't the only one to get caught out.

I have driven past this little shop a few times but is not

open on Sundays, but as I was early I decided to pull over and

have a sticky beak through the window.

They are on face book and Rachael said they
are working on an online store too.
Will also be opening Sundays closer to Xmas.

Have my eye on one of these for my front garden

under the Magnolia, that's when it gets grows a little.

Which could be a while as they are not known for being

the fastest growing plant.

to pop up saying that they are now posting to Australia.

Finally.

I'm sure we will be paying more than we should but

LOVE Donna Hay _ Royal Doulton

Anyone who knows me will know that I have a slight

obsession with blue, white and linen.

So when I spoted the back cover of my new Country Style

magazine my heart skipped a beat.

I already have a number of blue Donna Hay items in my kitchen

and have bought the blue Gordan Ramsy Royal Doulton dinner

set which I am thrilled with and they go together beautifully.

I didn't get the mugs for the set though as they weren't really

right and the teacups are lovely but I do love a mug for my coffee.

After wasting another hour of my life loosing the plot

over my kids constant mess I found this image kind of funny

I have been a bit slack on the blog thing lately, so much to

do around the house and working on top of general

domestic duties.

I forgot how inspiring reading my favourite blogs and

discovering new ones can be.

So I will attempt to get my beautiful new house in some sort of order

this week and start sharing some of it with you.

Going to do some creative decorating while waiting for

my new dining table to come back into stock, and for

that winning lotto ticket to buy the rest of the furniture

that I would love to finish off the house.

Empty Canvas

Now that the walls are almost painted we need some

things to decorate.

Our old house didn't have alot of wall space so we

don't have a lot of art or pictures.

It is nice to have a new "empty canvas" to build on.

Again, just need that winning lotto ticket.

I am not one for florally pictures but I love

Jaqueline Coats and would love this one for the stair well.

Blue

I have used a lot of blue as my accent colour in the house and decided

to paint the buffet and hutch blue too.

It's quite blue but I really like it and I think is shows off the white display

inside well, just need a couple more french jugs.

I painted it blue then gave it a light distressed finish and

followed it up with a bit of a white wash.

My French grey tree from Bed Bath and Table.

Wall behind still waiting to be painted.

And also the drawers to be finished.

The bird sitting on the bottle is a swallow.

We have a flock of them that fly around our house all day.

I call them the dolphins of the sky, they are so playful and cheeky.

The cups and saucers are antique Royal Winton, they belonged

to my Great Grandmotherand have been sitting in a box for the

past 2 1/2 years waiting for a special spot.

The jug on the left and the little bottle are from one of my

favourite shops in Ascot, Lyle & Bank

Set for a weekend of more painting.

Looking forward to getting rid of all the drop sheets and dust

(and builders, sorry boys)

I'm Back

We are have been in the house for a few weeks but have been up

to our ears in painting builders and dust, rain and mud.

Still waiting for furniture to arrive and the builders to finish off a few last things.

My website will be back up and running by today.

Good old Telstra lost my email address in the transfere and have

been unable to put the website back up because all the payments

are linked to the email. All sorted now.

Here We Go

We have a driveway, just. Poor guys were out there working
away through the showers that passed, driveway almost
complete and down came the rain.

Luckily it passed quickly but they had to start from
the top and re brush the whole thing.

So with lots of painting to do we are moving in tomorrow.

Bedrooms are all painted, thanks to the help of my Dad.

Carpet goes in today and applianced fitted.

Still very wet when I took this, they will be back today to clean,

seal and do the saw cuts.

Still have packing to do, have called in the cleaners, thank goodness.

Just wish we could call in the painters to finish off,

at least I won't have to paint over capet.

Who Can Resist

My wonderful Mum and Dad have arrived

to help with the kids and a little painting.

I love little bunnies, have to say I was a little

disappointed to find that you can't keep them as pets

in Qld. These two would be so cute together.

Salt Pig.

My last purchase before moving in to the new house was

a Nigella Lawson Salt Pig in blue.

So started the conversation with my kids on why it is called a pig,

when it actually is an egg shape.

So I did a little investigating.

The use of the word "Pig" is found in Northern English and

Scottish dialect meaning earthenware vessel.

Which is also where the term

"Piggy Bank"comes from as well.

so you learn something new everyday.

It's great to have inquisitive minds around to question things

that maybe you wouldn't otherwise research.

I love Nigella's kitchenware's, have my eye on some other lovelies too.

Need to win that lotto :-)

Bargain Shopping

I was in need a new Kettle and Toaster as the old ones

had died. So I went on the hunt for something pretty.

I found these

They have a lovely pearly white finish.

Problem was on one had them in stock.

They had red, or blue or black so I got on line and found them

here

Not only did I save $30 on the kettle and $40 on the toaster they

also deliver free. Very easy to order and only took about a

week to arrive. They sell all sorts of things.

I missed my delivery yesterday, so am off to the post

office today to pick them up.

Very happy with my purchase.

Having a day off from the painting today and taking

my kids to the movies.

until I am in the new studio.

Last look

I went into the house for a last look before the floors were sanded and

polished to have a last look.

I hadn't seen the kitchen out from under the drop sheets with all

the tiling done, next the appliances will go in and let the painting begin.

Bedrooms will be painted on the weekend by me. :-)

The rest of the house with any luck next week by the painter.

Fire mantle is ready to pick up so hopefully that

will be in by the time we move, or soon after.

Still making some decisions on the furniture.

so will be moving in with the old things until we decide

on what will fit.

Decorating Boys Rooms

Decorating little children's rooms is easy.

They don't really get a say and there are so many cute things around

the only difficulty is choosing.

As they get older, pre teens it becomes a little more difficult.

I have started a navy, white , red with a little linen / neutral colour

scheme for my boys.

Bunting and lots of stars for the little one.

My 11 yr old is a bit more challenging.

I bought him a red school locker from ebay

and have asked his cousin to do a big graffiti style art

work of his name on a canvas.

Hopefully has the cool factor they like.

And I like these Union Jack cushions that are around
at the moment.

This one I think I need to have in each room

Love these big floor cushions too.
I wanted to put a big reading chair in their rooms but
these would be a great alternative if room is tight.

Love cushions, pile them high.

Off to deliver fans and kitchen pendant lights to the house.

It's Here

After racing around on Friday doing endless house stuff,
I arrived home to findI had missed the posty,
so I raced down to the post officein the hope I wouldn't
have to wait till Monday, and it was there

Staying safely in the box till the move.

Hubby is going to buy me the ice cream attachment for Mother's day.

The final details in the house are all coming together this week.

We have the floors booked in next Monday.

So fingers crossed and pray that the rain stays away. PLEASE.

There is still a lot to do but the builder seems confident.

And then, let the painting begin!

We opted to do the walls and trim to save a little money.

So I will have a paint brush attached to me for the next couple of

months.

Reflection

This reflection came in our school news letter yesterday.

Reflection.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but

by the moments that take our breath away.

I have been so busy lately but am going to try to take some

time over the weekend to breath.

I am heading down to the house today to view the work that

has been done by the tilers and painters.

Lets hope my breath is taken away.

Going Stemless

We have a little joke in our house that everytime my

Mum comes to stay she breaks a glass. ( sorry Mum)

She somehow manages to break the stems on wine and champagne glasses.

So I've decided to go stemless.

I saw some like these featured on Oprah a couple of years

ago and have been keeping an eye out for some.

Country Road has some like these

But I am kind of keen on the straight edge and flat bottom.

The top ones are from the USA, not sure if I trust them

in the post.

Let me know if you have seen any.

Hubby is also keen on some stemless red wine glasses.

Fit Out.

We are progressing to the final fit out stage of the inside of the house.

The house is full of tilers, plumbers, painters and the builders
so today I am keeping right away.

I can't wait to get down there Friday to see the progress.

I always feel nervous about having made the right choices on things
and it is great to see things actually fall into place.

The pathway and some concreting were due to happen tomorrow
but here is the rain again.
Seems every time something needs to be done outside it rains.

I am keeping busy packing boxes, our house is turning into a bit of a box maze.

Also sewing up some new cushions and covering an ikea ottoman in some lovely

Laura Ashley fabric I found to go on our new lounge we ordered from Freedom yesterday.

It is one of their new ones, Dalton, in a linen blend.

So comfy.

It won't arrive until after we move in but as there will be painting to do that is probably

not a bad thing.

Also putting together some things for the kids bedrooms.

Found some great bedding bargains from BB&T and Adairs.

I was given some money from my family for my birthday to purchase one of these

I have ordered it and just waiting for it to arrive.

Putting it all together

I have been looking for some inspirations for putting it all together.

Furniture, how much, how big?

What colour to paint the inside walls?

I'm hoping that the stairs will resemble something close to this.

We went up to the house yesterday to have a quick look at what

had been done during the week.

The light was bad and my camera on my iphone is not working all that well due

to the fact that I dropped it and smashed the screen. :-(

It's both exciting and nerve racking to see everything start coming together.

Did we make the right choices? Will it all look ok?

So far I am really happy. Of course there are things I would have done a little differently

if we had an unlimited budget.

This week we can look forward to seeing the doors go in, the stairs go in.

Fire place, and all the skirt and architraves.

And the next couple of weeks the tiles and painting. Wow, almost there.

Off to pack some more boxes.

Lounging Around

I have been on the hunt for a lounge for some time.

We have jumped back and forth with the Ektorp from Ikea.

Not sure if it will hold up to the punishment it may get.

I still love the idea of the slip cover but seams to be a hard thing to get.

Most of the slip covered lounges are not washable, ?

Then I found this in the new Freedom Catalogue.

Now this would be perfect in front of my fireplace.

They also have a lounge called the Sommerfield

Beautiful Kitchen

So while I was busy doing my thing at the markets on the weekend, my new house was buzzing with activity, and I was presented with this on Sunday afternoon.

Couldn't be happier.

We had debated for quite some time on the extra row of cupboards due to the cost but

I am so happy we did. With the 3 metre ceilings they look great.

The door into the butlers pantry will be a 10 lite opaque glass.

This is the facing wall to the kitchen (sorry a bit dark)

2 sets of french doors with double hung windows either side and fixed windows across the top.

The Benches go in on Friday, so will post more pics when they are done.

The bathroom vanities and Laundry are all in the same profile.

Something Pretty

Our rental is filling up with boxes, fans, lights, toilets, basins, sinks, taps, etc.

Our conversations consist of "House Things"-
How to tackle the unplanned,

Deciding on what to do with the driveway, the pathway and constant trips up to the house

to drop things off or meet with the builder.

All while trying to run a small buisness from home, look after

three kids and a poor old dog.

So while the chaos of builing consumes us,
I needed something pretty to distract me for a minute.

I have on hold, at my favourite shop Lyle and Banks at Ascot, a lovely little cake stand

which I plan to go and pick up on Saturday after Mathilda's Market.

(will post a pic next week)

I am also on the hunt for another buffet hutch as the one I bought on ebay a while back

isn't going to fit into the space I bought it for.

I love these, they are from a catering place in the UK.

Look at the etching on the glass and the adustable height on the stand.

Ok, off to order the fire mantle and make dinner.

Starting to take shape

We just had a meeting with our builder out at the house to go over some final details.

The electrical work begins Wednesday and the gyprockers are booked for Friday.

The kitchen and bathroom vanities are booked for the 10th March, so fingers, toes and eyes crossed

that all will run smoothly and on time.

Entrance lights. At the moment I have them on the front next to the windows either side of the front door. Or should they go inside the alcove????

Happy with how the fixed windows turned out, the house is lovely and light inside.

The Pine river breeze keeps the house lovely and cool.

Turning 40

I decided to sneek away on the weekend and let turning 40 pass by quietly.

Not that I was worried about it, as they say life starts at 40.

But with all the building chaos in our life it was the easiest option.

We stayed at Peppers Salt resort and Kingscliff, lovely.

Hubby has promised our Ruby that he will buy an apartment there

when we win the lotto, she would move in in a heart beat.

My Mum and Dad came to stay with us for a couple of nights and

my Mum and I snuck off for a few hours and ventured down to Bangalow.

What a little hidden treasure.

Completely fell in love with a shop called Island Luxe.

Apparently they have opened up another store in Byron Bay

I have misplaced my camera so have borrowed a pic from Driftwood Interiors.

The dress on the stand is hand printed in Silk, completely Divine.

Having a background in textile design it caught my eye and as soon as my

little man passes the stage of rubbing messy fingers on my

clothes I may go and buy one of her pieces.

I will get back to you on the designer , Mum wrote it down and am going to

do some research on her.

They also carry the Lee Mathews Label, which I have seen pop up in a few shops lately.

I worked for Lee for a while sewing and a little pattern making before I had my little man.

Such beautiful clothing.

The house is moving along quite quickly now, and alot of my spare time is being

taken up rushing around organizing all the details and purchasing bathroom things

and lighting etc.

This is the last lot of photos I have taken but more has been done so

will get down there this week to take some more ( as soon as I find that camera)

Is any one good at Bathroom Design out there, need to make final decisions on the

bathrooms today and having trouble.. Ahhh!!!

Too much pressure.

Sweat Shop

The humidity here in Brisbane has been pretty high this week, I almost

thought we were going to get away with a not so hot summer but

seems it is just coming late.

As my garage / workroom heats up like a sauna and I attempt staying cool with my

pedestal fan it makes my wish more that our house was finished so that

I can sew in the comfort of an air conditioned room.

My current work space is a bit of a messy disaster and as any sewer / crafter

knows you can never have enough storage.

I keep hunting around for ideas so that I get it right.

I found this via the Ikea Hackers Blog.

I have been looking for a big table to go in the centre of the room, one that has
storage underneath

Perfect.

This is made up with Ikea Kitchen cabinets

They have used a glass top which is lovely but may just go with melamine.

I love this space (think I have posted this one before)

I wonder if I could ever be this organized.

More Kitchen cupboards.

Beautiful, easy to see and dust free.

Love it.

Back to the sweat shop.

New Girls on the Block

I was very honoured to be awarded the Marketeer of the Month at
the Butterfly Tree Markets on the Gold Coast in December.
Thank you to all the lovely shoppers who voted for me.
I will be back down there This Sunday 6th Feb.

New blondies or at least alighter brown. I attempted some blondies a while back but they

were a bit yellow so these are my new version.

New fabric range too, very sweet.

Flower buttoned shoes.

Pencil Rolls have had a little makeover too.

The ribbon tie on the old version looked lovely but a bit fiddly to handle.

So I came up with this idea some time ago and finally got around

to trying it out. Works like a treat.

Love this cute little Elephant fabric.

The insides have had a bit of a lift too. :-)

The cute Squirrel trees are still available on the website.

A Roof

We have a roof, and some windows and some cladding.

The floor will hopefully go down sometime in the next week or two so am praying that the

rain stays away till the outside is all closed up.

Trying to be patient, not very successfully :-)

My little man decided the garage is going to be his new room.

Whenever we go out to see the house he says

"I don't want to go home I want to live here".

Orgaized Inspiration

My New Years Resolution, well one of them anyway, is to become more organized.

As we are currently renting some of the ideas I have will have to wait until we move into the new

house, but I have decided to start finding some inspirational pictures to get me ready.

My first project will be de cluttering the house and not packing "stuff" into boxes.

Let's see how much of this actually happens.

My Ruby is even more messy than me, if that were even possible.

So I am looking for some fun and inspiring ways to get us both into

a better routine.

Still wish we had Pottery Barn here, but will have to make do with ikea and Howard's Storage.

Still Loving Blue

The house is a little quieter with the big kids back at school today.

I love having them home but also love it when they go back :-)

The roof went up on our house last week so will try and get out there in the

next couple of days to take some pics.

I have pretty much finished up with the kitchen design or at least I thought I had until

Veranda House blog posted these pics of J Lo's kitchen, so beautiful.

I was tempted to go back and start over, but would like to remain married :-)

How stunning is this, but I feel that it would only be done justice if it was painted wood.

I don't think a vinyl wrap would quite have the same amazing appeal.

But it would fit perfectly into our house design.

Oh well next house.

A couple of things on my kitchen wish list.

Could someone please tell me why these are more than twice the price here as they are in the U.S

Crazy. Also I found this lovely colour Glacier Blue but is only available in the UK as far

as I can see. Shame.

A little House Update

It is hard to go back to everyday life with so much still going on around our city but we

went up to see the latest on the house build.

Finally things seem to be moving along and may even have a roof by the end of next week.

The downstairs windows have started going in and even a little linear board.

Hubby is very happy.

Baked Relief - Helping Hands

My lovely new friend has started something wonderful over on her blog.

I was feeling like I wanted to do something to help with the disaster around our beautiful city.

We have only lived in Brisbane for 2 yrs but already feel a very strong attachment and watching as people are losing everything is heartbreaking.

But with 3 kids at home, one being only 3 I thought we would be a hindrance rather than a help.

I was reading my blog roll this morning to check up on how some of the Brisbane bloggers were doing and found out about Digella's great effort. She has started a Baked Relief for the SES volunteers who are grouping together filling sandbags and helping people in need.

So I pulled out my apron this morning and whipped up a batch of mixed berry muffins and dropped them in to the Stafford Works Depot in Kedron.

They were received with thanks.

So if you would like to do something pop over to Digella to get the details on how to help.

Everything counts not matter how small.

Happy New Year.

Ok, so maybe being a Sydney girl I may be a bit bias, but the New Years Eve Fire Works

in Sydney were quite spectacular.

The kids got to go with their Aunty and Uncle to watch the 9pm show while I stayed at home

looking after my little man who had a bad case of impetago which put a downer on our holiday.

A big Happy Birthday to my beautiful girl, Ruby is 9 today.

We spent the day yesterday shopping and lunching and today she is having a friend over

for a sleepover.

It wouldn't be a new year with out some New Years Resolutions.

1. Be more organized :-)

2. Try to balance work and home better

3. Loose weight ( again)

4. Spend lots of time doing things I love with lovely people

Looking forward to a great new year.

Now if the rain could please stop so we can get our house built that would be great.

And a little prayer to all the people who are suffering from the floods.

Almost a roof.

We were due to have our roof put on today but the storms this week have put us behind.

I haven't been down to the house this week but here are a few little pics I took last weekend

inbetween all the end of year and Christmas chaos.

We put up our tree the other day. Thought I would get in a little early as the next couple

of weeks will be a bit crazy.

Stuck with my mostly red tree but we opted to leave off teh tinsel this

year and just pile on the decorations.

Already looking for inspiration for christmas next yr and although we will not

be spending it in the new house (much to my dissapointment) as we will be with family

in Sydney, the decorations will go ahead anyway.

You can't go past some Martha Stewart

As you can probably see there will be a blue silver and red theme.

I can't give up my little mushroom decorations.

A Lower level Frame.

We went down to see how the house was progressing on the weekend and we have a lower level frame.

It is great to walk around and get the feel of what some of the house will feel like.

Can't wait till upstairs is up and has a floor down. Very exciting.....

Final Decisions

So now that the building is starting it is time to make some final decisions.

Of course I spend lots of time blog hopping to get inspiration.

The House that A-M built has given me lots of lovely ideas and we have decided to gowith or similar to her house exterior colour. Had been looking for that perfect colour that wasn't too green or too pink or too brown or too grey.

white windows, athough after 10 yrs of constant window painting in the old house we have opted for the aluminium ones here, not quite as beautiful but more practical.

One of my serches led me to A View on Design here

Which leads me back to the question of the roof colour

Here they have used a dark grey

or the surf mist which I think A-M used on her house

Both look great.

Still pondering the bathroom walls

I love this look

The builder suggested a half tiled wall but not sure if you would

get the same effect with tiles???

Going to keep the colour scheme in neutrals, white, linen, stone and wood.

Time For the Champagne!!!!

Just when I thought it was never going to happen, we have made a start.

I think they got most of the excavating done even in the rain.

So now we are praying for some sunny weather, even though the weather report isn't

looking so great, so we can get this house built.

Very, very exciting.

Rain, Rain Go Away

I know it is not a good thing to ask for it not too rain but the more it rains the longer it will take to start our house, and we are so close, very frustrating.

Keeping busy with Ruby & Belle things and waiting until I can set this up under the tree on our property, looks like the perfect setting for a girls lunch :-)

Building an Ark

Wow, the rain just keeps coming.

We want to put a swimming pool in our new house, but now we have one in our rental's back yard.

OMG.

If it doesn't stop soon will have to build an Ark.

I am on the hunt for a new dining table and found this one via Coastal living.

Perfect, if only I lived in America

I have been madly sewing to build up lots of lovely stock and have a rack full of clothes, my trade mark sweet Ruby and Belle dolls and my new range of bird cages.

Fans and Chandeliers

I would love to put a chandelier over the dining table but with the heat in Brisbane

the fans will have to take priority. So I am on the look out for something beautiful to

put on the table. Will head to Paddington later this week as I saw a Chandelier style

candelabra in one of the shops there not long ago.

Might pop into the Paddington Antique Centre too.

Some inspiration.

I completely love this one with the little birds.

Can't decide on fans, white? Stainless?

Any suggestions?

My little Bronte is doing better.

The big bandage comes off tomorrow and will have to keep

her really quiet for a week while things continue to heal.

She has been very brave.

A Prayer for my Little Bronte

My Beautiful little dog Bronte is going into have her Cruciate Ligament in her back

leg operated on tomorrow. It is a big operation and she has not

been a well dog over the past few years.

She is my first baby, my best friend, my loyal companion.

I can't imagine life without her.

Bronte will be 13 next month and watching her get old is heartbreaking.

She has the spirit of a puppy, the body is just not quiet up to pace.

So I am saying a little prayer for her to the angels to keep her safe.

Today she had a bath and a hair cut to keep her cool and clean while she recovers

and tomorrow I will be sitting by my phone waiting to hear from the vet.
